Photography through a musician’s eye.
All my images, every attempt to capture the raw energy, power and passion that erupts on stage when an artist, band or solo musician performers is derived from one goal, to replicate those emotions in photography that I myself have experienced from years of playing live stage shows.
The difference between many photographers and myself seen fighting for that perfect shot in the pit at the front of the stage is that I have spent many, many hours at the other end of the camera. Caught up in the moment under the hot lights of the stage, performing vigorously and passionately for the crowd, barely conscious that there is a lens pointed roughly in my direction, poised, anticipating…
It makes sense to me. To try and compliment and document something I have loved for so long. I have seen artists and acts throw themselves so hard into their music that at times there seems too much to take in. Well here I have tried to capture some of those moments digitally, in the hope that they might evoke some of the emotions felt by the spectator as well as performer.
And now I am able to extend beyond capturing the performer on stage and produce creative, innovative and inspiring portratis. Endless possibilities, themes and ideas can be explored using my portable studio to capture and promote the artist within the act..
